| In the interests of getting free stuff and more players, I'm in the process of registering us on the Wizards Play Network. That basically means that we are allowed to hold ranked and non-ranked events, get some free foil cards to hand out as prizes, get DCI card application forms to hand out to people. Also, I think that attending Ashhurst Mtg might possibly count for getting those DCI player rewards foil cards, but I'm not sure. Yes, you heard that right, each time a new set is released we can get ourselves a free pile of foil cards to distribute. There are no restrictions on how we distribute them - they can be prizes on the ladder, we could all get a few each for simply turning up, and so on. We are also allowed to hold launch parties for the new sets if we want to, and we'd get the prizes to hand out (foil full art promo cards, usually good cards too) for those too. This is all we have to do: 1) Have the event in a public place (library counts for this) 2) Tell Wizards when we're having events (we only technically have to do this once in order to get anything) 3) Keep doing what we're already doing Sounds good hm? I'm still looking for the secret catch | |

| I might have to turn up more frequently then... I wouldn't be surprised if we need a DCi judge to attend. Anyone keen to learn? | |

| I looked it up and we don't. They said it in nice big obvious letters too. You can even hold prereleases without a judge. | |

| It looks like the only program we would be sanctioned to do is launch parties. For the prereleases and Friday Night Magic we would have to have 30 different people show up, with at least 12 in one day, as well as hold four events, sign up 6 people to the DCI. The suspicious thing is a "delinquency rate of less than 20% over the last 12 months". What are we expected to stay out of debt of? | |

| Game days <> Launch parties. They're different :p
Delinquency = Me telling them there'll be an event on and not saying how many people showed up etc.
We aren't going to do FNM and prereleases at the library anyway, so we don't need to qualify for that. | |

| Judge-wise, I'd probably trust only me, William and Kevin (no offense, but you did shout across the room in pre-release to ask me a rules question ). Sounds good though, right? Anyone up fora vote? Aaw, I was looking forward to free prerelease foils...

| To be a judge you have to judge sanctioned events on a regular basis, and be approved by a senior judge. I don't think any of us are really able to pass the exam and be able to judge at official events on a regular basis | |

| But prerelease foils... Okay, I don't think they'll mind if we tell some of the newbies you have to sack lands for mana and opponents get to take home your graveyard... | |

| We get a bunch of other foils anyway Max... Even if we don't hold any events... Oh, and Wizards have the link to here, so try to sound less like a foil-grabbing maniac will you? | |

| Well if you want a judging authority I can try to do the rules advisor exam, which is easier and has no "judging at sanctioned events" requirement To be honest I think we usually work things out by group consensus anyway, after much heated debate! | |
